Nice post from Kathleen Noud about quitting writing.
And Reverend Peek takes up Ian Mond’s thread about robust criticism.
And me? I’m reading, and enjoying so far, Greg Egan’s Zendegi. Egan is often unfairly criticised for his characters, but to my mind he is one of the best writers of characters we have in this country.
Zendegi is perhaps (so far at least) one of his more accessible novels, and its Iranian backdrop is fascinating.
On the weekend we went to see The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. It was a “nice” film, a feel good film. But whereas those terms are usually used dismissively, BEMH was a very good film, well scripted and well acted. Funny and moving. I really enjoyed it.
And that about brings us up to date!
