Poetry: Day 15

Placed beneath a broken light
Look into the future bright
With pictures of a place to sleep
Dreams to catch and hold and keep
Don’t focus on the flicker there
It makes you blink, it breaks your stare
The maintenance crews never came
Now looking forward is a strain
You cup your hand behind your ear
And listen for some hope or fear
You pull your blanket closer, tight
And hold off the approaching night
